AtticManTrader- My Trading Library

Below are a selection of my favorite trading and trading related books. I’ll be adding to this section as I wade through the library.

mastering_the_tradeMastering the Trade: Proven Techniques for Profiting from Intraday and Swing Trading Setups (AMT rating 9/10)- I met John Carter, the author on a trading seminar in 2006. This book is packed to the seams with strategies, tips and tricks. Its a must for traders of all levels
trading_in_the_zoneTrading in the Zone (AMT rating 8/10) – Often credited by people as ‘helping them turn the corner’ on their way to mastering the markets. An excellent read, focusing on the psychology of trading.
come_into_my_trading_roomCome into My Trading Room: A Complete Guide to Trading (AMT rating 8/10) – I developed my first swing trading strategy after reading this book by Alexander Elder. Highly recommended if you want to gain a solid insight into the key tenets of successful trading.
tape_reading_and_market_tacticsTape Reading & Market Tactics (Marketplace Classics) (AMT rating 7/10) – Originally printed in 1931, this is a real classic and describes the very basics of tape reading, a concept that remains as important to understand today as it was way back in 1931
studies_in_tape_readingStudies in Tape Reading (AMT rating 7/10) – Another classic, written by a trading legend – Richard d Wyckoff. If a trader can understand the relationship between price action and volume then he will need no other technical indicator. This book can help you achieve that understanding
entries_and_exitsEntries and Exits: Visits to 16 Trading Rooms (Wiley Trading) (AMT rating 7/10) – In this book, Alexander Elder visits the trading rooms of 16 very differant but successful traders. Great if you are nosey and contains real insights into successful traders.
stock_operatorReminiscences of a Stock Operator (AMT rating 6/10) – By all accounts this is a classic read. I only ever got half way through (about twice now..) I’m sure its good, but it didn’t do it for me.
techniques_of_tape_readingTechniques of Tape Reading (AMT rating 5/10) – This book promises much and delivers little. If you want to gain insights into tape reading, read Studies in Tape Reading or Tape Reading and Market Tactics (both listed above)

You should add Market Wizards, New Market Wizards and Stock Market Wizards by Jack Schwager to your reading list. These are amongst the best investing/trading books I ever read – and a great read.

p.s. Can’t believe you only got half way through ‘Reminiscences’ it’s got some real pearls in there.

Good luck with the blog (which I found today) and the trading, I’ll be watching closely.

Ahhh – I see you have the names above on your Top 10 books list…

  3. I totally agree with u on the Market wizard series. Brilliant books and really great insights into the minds of top traders. These books were amongst the first I ever read on trading as, instead of being heavy going technical analysis books, they are easy and exciting to read. I’ll be adding them here as soon as I get a moment.

    Cheers
